Ladock Tree Stand Safety System.
The Ladock is a product that we as deer hunters have always needed. The
design of the system is simple, but very effective. The unit bolts to
the seat of every ladder stand that I have tested it on, even a couple
of home made stands. After reading the directions, I installed the unit
and placed the stand on a telephone pole in my yard. I pulled the rope
that comes with the unit, and immediately the jaws closed. I climbed
the stand and tried to make it come off the pole. The stand will come
off of the tree or pole just a little, it will also roll on the tree or
pole. However I was unable to make the stand role or pull away enough
to make me uncomfortable. The locking mechanism is sturdy and well
designed.
The only drawback to the unit that I could find is the weight. It is a
little heavy and awkward. I don't know about everyone else, but I can
deal with heavy if I get to come home. We all know that a friend is not
always available when that stand in your hunting area needs to be
moved. Well the Ladock eliminates the need for a friend. As long as
you take the time to install it properly you will have no problems.
The Ladock is also relatively inexpensive, less than $200 with
shipping. They way I look at it $200 isn't a drop in the bucket, but it
is well worth the money if it keeps me safe. They also offer a "show
special". So if you see these guys at a hunting show tell them that you
heard about the product at www.huntinthewild.com and ask about the special.
